What’s the point of signing up to Twitter unless you’re really going to start using it? There’s no point being half-hearted about this. You have to set aside time for social media, and Twitter is no exception. It is mainly an investment in time, just like blogging and content creation. This commitment in using Twitter is a way to show people your company’s personality. It’s important to note though, that you should never put up a fake personality when you’re doing this for your company, just to stay committed to using it.
Whether you’re launching your own social media site or just participating in discussions around the Web, be conspicuously honest and straightforward about who you are and who you represent. The cost of being exposed or even accused as dishonest is never worth the small gains you may think you’ll get by influencing the conversation as an “objective” participant.
