The Top 10 Ways to Market Your Website

May 1, 2009 by rippleresults · Leave a Comment

ComputerYour website is only as good as the website visitors that are coming to visit it. So one of your main goals with a website is to market your website and get as many website visitors as you can. I thought it would be helpful to come up with a top 10 list of the best ways I have found to market my website.

1. Twitter

Twitter is a popular way to get traffic to your website. I think it’s great for upcoming events or to get traffic to your blog. I’ve noticed a lot of traffic to my website from Twitter as well, but they don’t stay very long. So I’m thinking about directing traffic to my about me page, so we can start a conversation right away. So if you’re thinking about starting a Twitter account remember it’s all about creating a relationship not just traffic to your website. 2. Facebook

Facebook is another great way to market your website, but I’ve found that not many people click on your website links from your profile. The best marketing on Facebook usually comes from special event invitations as well as a specific Fan Page created for your avid followers/customers to follow you. Now this has just been my marketing experience with Facebook. But I have found Facebook friends to click on links through my status update. I just try not to always put links in my Facebook status, because I don’t want to seem like a spammer.

3. Video

Viral movies, instructional videos, and much more. Video is a great way to get people back to your website and increase your natural search engine optimization of your website. Videos also show potential customers the face behind the business and allow them to connect to your personality instead of just seeing your adverts.

4. Teleseminars

Free teleseminars and webinars are great ways to market your website. I personally use the service Free Conference Call Pro and I have been very happy with it. This is a great way to get started doing public speaking if you’re not quite ready to speak in person yet.

5. Article Marketing

Write articles in your field of expertise and make sure to place a link back to your website at the bottom of your article. Ezine Articles is the best resource out there for article marketing. But there are literally thousands of websites you can submit your articles to.

6. Search Engine Optimization- This can take several months to see results, but when you do it’s amazing. I’m ranking #6 for “website solutions” on google which is a very competitive keyword term. One of my clients, an eye doctor, has seen amazing success because we optimized his site for the city and eye doctor. So anyone searching for an eye doctor will find his business first. People are using Google instead of the yellow pages to find businesses now.

7. Pay per click- Pay per click advertising is where you pay for advertising by how many times someone clicks on your ad. Websites such as Google and Yahoo offer pay per click advertising. It can be expensive, but if done right it can bring you a lot of website traffic.

8. Public Speaking- I will be adding this to my different ways of marketing my website this year. I speak a lot from the comfort of my own home, but I am excited to get in front of my community as well. This is a great way to build a list of potential customers and market your website at the same time.

9. Blogging- Blogging is a powerful way to start a dialogue with your potential customers and market your website. Search engines love blogs, because they are constantly updated.

10. Forums- Find 1-3 forums your potential clients visit and be a part of that community. Don’t spam the forum but provide helpful information and the link to your website at the bottom of your post.

There are so many different ways to market your website, but just pick 1-3 things to start out with. I suggest tracking your results in a spreadsheet so you can see what works and what doesn’t work.
